Dr. Bob Williams

Philosophy

Effective treatment of breast cancer begins with a proper diagnosis. Breast cancers are as varied as the women affected by them. By examining the many different characteristics of the cancer, our team can size up its “personality”. Our surgical practice is dedicated to breast health and breast cancer treatment. We help determine the nature of the cancer and select the most appropriate treatment plan from the many advanced options available.

We treat patients from the assessment of any abnormalities, such as lumps and cysts, to treating breast cancer. We also work with high-risk patients who have a family history, and need a preemptive plan with risk assessment, and follow-up care. This includes a high-risk clinic, genetic testing, and counseling for patients with increased risk, recognizing that one out of every eight women will experience breast cancer in their lifetime.

Our approach is centered around fully-integrated medicine. We provide holistic care, addressing the patient not just physically, but also spiritually and emotionally. Patients, and their caregivers are part of the team and need to be educated about the best treatment options available so they can make the best decisions for their respective situations. A care plan is tailored to individual needs and designed to achieve the highest success rate in treatment.

Experience

Dr. Williams has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease, cancers and advanced breast surgery techniques. His experience includes advanced surgical techniques such as minimally-invasive, image-guided needle biopsies, sentinel node procedures, and lumpectomies, all usually done on an outpatient basis. He is also experienced in skin sparing, and nipple-sparing mastectomies, oncoplastic surgery and mastectomies with immediate plastic surgery reconstruction.

Our breast care team includes radiologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists and reconstructive surgeons. Together we explore the best possible treatment recommendations for our patients. By a surgical practice dedicated to breast health, breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, the patient and caregivers are provided the most comprehensive breast cancer program in our region.

Effective treatment of breast cancer involves our entire staff as well as other specialists, primary care physicians, family, friends, and above most importance, the patient. Every cancer is different, and every patient is different. By involving the entire team we hope to insure the care is most appropriate and advanced as possible.
